Introduction

Change Meta Data (CMD) is a collection of Automator actions to change the IPTC meta data of your photos or movies. CMD contains the following actions:
  • Change IPTC Image Info: you can change headline, description, keywords and the rating of your photos with this action.
  • Change IPTC Location: you can change location, city, state, and country with this action.
  • Change IPTC Contact: you can change creator, credit, copyright and contact information with this action.
  • Change IPTC Meta Data: contains all of the above IPTC fields in one action.
A nice feature of CMD is, that it also edits the meta data of QuickTime movies. This is an very important feature, since nearly all modern cameras can take photos and videos!

CMD is an action for Apples Automator application. It is not a standalone application. If you need or prefer an standalone application, then please use Edna.
If you are not familiar with Automator, read the Apple application help for Automator. A typical workflow for CMD should have the following actions:
  1. Get the input. Either as specified list of image files, from iPhoto, from the current finder selection, or...[lots of possibilities]
  2. Add the actions for the meta data you want to change.
Since CMD changes the meta data, you may also want to copy or backup the images before you change the data.
